Award for Innovation
19th October 2004
CFS-South Africa has just been awarded for the most innovative product in the Small Enterprise Category by The
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in its Support Programme for Industrial Innovation (SPII). This
four-and-a-half-year-old Johannesburg-based company won the award for its Version 2 Service Tracka product. The Service
Tracka is an electronic customer feedback data-gathering system.
SPII was started in 1993 and is designed to promote technology development in manufacturing industries in South Africa
though support for innovation of competitive products and processes. The SPII Programme is funded by the Department of
Trade and Industry and administered by the Industrial Development Corporation.
CFS-South Africa was in esteemed company with eight finalists being selected, among them, Denel Optronics Division,
Blackstone Tek (Pty) Limited, and Grintek TCI (Pty) Limited.
The CFS Version 2 Service Tracka is an electronic device designed to obtain useful and reliable service information
with minimal inconvenience to the customer. Electronic input devices are located at tills or strategic points within
queuing systems. The customer then enters responses to questions into the input device. The data is managed and hosted
by CFS-South Africa and upon input is immediately written to a database. Results are delivered as often as daily. This
enables the client to focus on service excellence.
"Real time market intelligence and operation information is an indispensable tool for any business, particularly those
involving a large number of individual customers," says CFS-South Africa CEO Craig Aiken.
"Traditional methods of measuring service delivery levels include direct or telephonic interviews. These are both times
consuming and expensive. With this device, operation is inexpensive, immediate, and CFS-South Africa provides all the
information and analysis for the client."
Apart from the Service Tracka, CFS-South Africa also supplies Survey Tracka for conducting snap surveys, Staff Tracka
for gathering staff feedback, and Facilities Tracka which helps in the management of facility services, such as
restrooms.
CFS-South Africa not only manufactures the product, but also offers a holistic service around data gathering,
interpretation and presentation, as well as interventions. CFS-South Africa is part of a global distribution network
under the CFS -International banner and is currently represented in Australasia, the United Kingdom, Europe, South-East
Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as sub-Saharan Africa.
